Paying when you collect your hire vehicle

Unfortunately we no longer accept cash on collection.

Remember to bring your credit card when you pick up your hire vehicle. This must be in the same name as the main driver.

Yes. Our standard hire terms and conditions still apply when you use a voucher.

Any extra costs such as fuel and airport charges will be taken using your chosen payment method saved in your account.

We simply hold an amount against your payment card. The amount depends whether you chose to pay upfront when you booked your vehicle or later over the counter. Read full details of our pre-authorisation process here.

Pre-authorisation will, in general, be for the full cost of the rental plus the cost of a tank of fuel (or £200 for rentals in the UK) or, if the reservation is pre-paid, for the cost of any additional products or services over the prepaid amount plus the cost of a tank of fuel (or £200 for rentals in the UK).

This is just a security measure. We won’t take any money without your approval.

Remember to factor in the amount that will be held against your card, so you have enough to spend on your journey.

You are always welcome to purchase an upgrade when you collect your hire vehicle.

If you are linked to a frequent flyer loyalty programme which offers upgrades, we will of course honour this.

If you are unsatisfied with your choice, we will of course try to change it – depending on what’s available.

If you collected it, simply return it to the hire station. Or if your vehicle was delivered, please call the number on the front of your rental agreement.

You can pay online or at the counter when you collect your vehicle, using Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners/Discover debit, credit or charge cards. 

There are several exceptions:

·         You can’t use a debit card in Iceland and Canada.

·         We don’t accept cards with Solo, JCB or Cirrus logos.

·         Germany issued Maestro cards are only accepted in Germany.

·         If you booked online using a PREPAID card, it must be shown at the counter along with another payment card.

Two payment cards may be required at the counter for higher-value vehicles – if you’ve booked online, or over the phone, this will be highlighted on your booking confirmation.

Remember, the name on the card must match the driving licence of the main driver.
